Adventure play centre planned for York warehouse

Plans have been lodged for the conversion of a warehouse building in York into an adventure play park.Lessicas Ltd has submitted an application to City of York Council for the change of use of a warehouse on Millfield Lane in Nether Poppleton, York.Planning permission is sought to develop a new indoor adventure play park. This would feature a ‘soft play’ element for younger children and those with special needs, as well as ‘ninja’ and ‘parkour’ areas for teens and adults.Non-alcoholic hot and cold drinks will be sold, together with light meals and snacks.It has been estimated that the proposed venue would employ about 36 staff.According to a planning statement filed with the council, the facility would “provide a multi-faceted activity and play environment for all ages, which will encourage exercise, thought and interaction with other users in the play/activity process”.The applicant will receive support from House of Play, which is behind the development and management of a number of activity play venues. Its 13,500 sq ft Astrabound facility will be used as the applicant’s training ground.
