Plans to demolish an existing building to make way for new affordable apartments in Cardiff has secured the green light.Cadwyn Housing Association is seeking the go-ahead to demolish Walters Building on Clarence Road to build a part four and part five-storey residential apartment block. The scheme includes 35, one and two-bed properties, amended from an original proposal that sought approval for 49 units in a nine-storey block.Walters Building is a disused office building surrounded by Century Wharf apartments to the north and east, the A4119 to the south, and a small area of landscaping and a sub-station to the east.A report for Cardiff Council – whose planning committee met on 19 August – recommended that the proposals be approved. The development has now been given the go-ahead subject to conditions.
