Plans for a development of almost 40 homes on the site of a former pub and daycare centre in Newport have been recommended for approval.Pobl Group is seeking full planning permission for the redevelopment of land which was once home to the Seven Stiles and Ladyhill Daycare Centre. The applicant intends to bring forward 39 houses alongside associated access, infrastructure, parking and landscaping. The scheme is proposed as affordable housing.According to a report to be scrutinised by Newport City Council councillors today (6 January), the proposed development would be acceptable with regards to amenity, highway safety, biodiversity and flooding. It is recommended that planning permission is granted subject to conditions.A scheme for the residential redevelopment of the site was lodged for pre-application advice in 2018 and was also submitted to the Design Commission for Wales (DCfW).As a result of the feedback provided by the LPA and the DCfW the scheme has evolved into the current proposal. A further review was undertaken by the DCfW earlier in 2020.
