Almost 200 homes set to move forward in Lincolnshire
Proposals for the construction of almost 200 homes in Lincolnshire look set to move forward after being recommended for approval.Cicero Estates is seeking outline approval to build 185 properties on land off Battlefields Lane South in Holbeach, Spalding.Extending to approximately 15.3 acres, the application site is enveloped by an existing residential development. The proposed mix of dwellings will be established at the time of any reserved matters application. However, an indicative masterplan features a mix of one- to four-bedroom houses and flats.A statement filed on behalf of the applicant with South Holland District Council – whose planning committee meets on 18 May – said: “There are no unacceptable impacts arising from the proposals which override the public benefits of delivering a substantial provision of both market and affordable housing, which will address local needs, in a sustainable location on an allocated site.”A report for the committee added: “It is not considered that the proposal would materially harm the character or appearance of the locality or amenity of nearby residents if an appropriate design is brought forward at reserved matters stage.”Overall, it is considered that the planning balance is in favour of the proposal.”
