Plans for the multimillion-pound Albion Square development in Hull have been amended to focus more on office space and leisure facilities.Planning permission was granted last year for a mixed-use scheme featuring 278 residential units, about 180,000 sq ft of retail space, 9,000 sq ft of offices, a multi-storey car park and new public squares, as well as a new ice arena. The amended proposals include an increased focus on leisure and commercial space. Retail will no longer form core element of the development, but units of a smaller scale will be created to support the residential and leisure components. They have been developed in response to rising demand for office space in the city, as well as national changes within the retail sector. The new proposals will be discussed at a meeting of Hull City Council’s Cabinet in February.
