Application for hundreds of new flats, a hotel and medical centre on former Vauxhall Motors site
A planning application for a new block of flats, hotel and medical centre has been submitted for the former Vauxhall Motors site in Kimpton Road.The application includes the erection of 685 flats comprising of 424 one bedroom and 261 two bedroom retail and leisure.The complex would also feature shops, financial and professional services, restaurants and cafes, drinking establishments, takeaways and assembly and leisure uses.There would also be a hotel comprising of 209 bedrooms, conferencing and banqueting facilities, and a medical wellbeing centre together with landscaping, car parking, new access and associated works.The site has been vacant for over ten years during which there have been a number of planning applications submitted and approved for the site.After 97 years of continuous car production, work ceased in 2002 and following this the buildings were removed.The Napier Gateway proposal builds on the previous consented schemes for Napier Park and Stirling Place.The proposed hotel will include an in house restaurant and bar and informal and formal meeting roomsThe Medical Wellbeing Centre will provide consulting rooms, private ward rooms, four operating theatres, imaging department, physiotherapy suite and cosmetic dentistry department. The centre will also specialise in cosmetic procedures for both in and out-patients.
