Approval for £16.5m BTR scheme
A £16.5m built-to-rent (BTR) housing development in Sheffield has been given the go-ahead.Sheffield City Council has approved a planning application from Placefirst for the redevelopment of a long-vacant site into a new, purpose-built rental community of 113 family homes. The company plans to build a mix of three and four-bedroom family homes off Skye Edge Avenue.Skye Edge is located on the eastern edge of Sheffield city centre and has been vacant since a deck-access housing scheme built in the 1970s was demolished in 2006.Since then the site has been used as informal open space by the local community and, under the approved plans, Placefirst will retain a large area of open space complimented by a new children’s play area.Placefirst aims to begin construction in May 2019, working with in-house contractor Placefirst Construction. Full completion is expected by December 2020.
