Approval for Almost 60 Birmingham Homes
A Birmingham site is to be redeveloped to provide almost 60 homes after plans were approved at committee.Res Publica Partners sought planning permission to transform the site on Wallis House, 24 Weoley Park Road, which is currently used as a global conference centre for the charity BMS World Mission, together with short stay residential and supporting accommodation.Lined up is the part demolition of existing extensions, restoration and conversion of the existing Wallis House and Coach House, along with the construction of a part three- and part four-storey apartment building and family dwellings.In total, the scheme will provide 44 one- to three-bedroom flats and 13 two to four-bedroom houses.It was considered by Birmingham City Council’s planning committee on 6 July.A report for the committee said: “The proposed development would create 57 new residential units of an acceptable mix and contribute to the housing supply and need of the city.”Members voted to back the project.
