Plans for an employment development on the site of a former factory in Sheffield have been given the go-ahead.De Veer Prescient (No1) Ltd submitted a full planning application to Sheffield City Council last year for the redevelopment of the former William Cook site, on land north of Station Road in Mosborough. The 23-acre site is currently vacant, with the former factory buildings having been demolished.Planning permission is sought for a 312,000 sq ft (gross internal area) employment development, together with access, parking, boundary treatments, servicing areas, landscaping, attenuation pond and associated works.A series of buildings are proposed suitable for a range of employment uses, including industrial processes, general industrial, and storage and distribution, along with ancillary office space. The plans include five larger industrial units, ranging in size from 32,270 sq ft to 86,143 sq ft, with a smaller 10,000 sq ft unit for research and development or light industrial use.HGV docking stations, service yards and car parking are also included in the plans. It has been estimated that, once built, the scheme would support between 434 and 871 employees. The council has now granted planning permission, subject to conditions, under delegated powers.A planning officer’s report accompanying the decision said: “The proposal is to develop vacant land within an allocated general industry area for industrial, business and warehousing uses which will be of significant benefit in terms of delivering the economic growth strategy set out within both the adopted and emerging replacement Local Plans.”The project team includes The Harris Partnership, Quod, Eastwood & Partners, Dragonfly, Brooks Ecological, Vector Design Concepts, Fore Consulting, Delta Simmons and Element Sustainability.
