A fire-damaged building in Aberdare town centre could soon be transformed into apartments and commercial spaces after plans were approved.Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s planning and development committee backed the scheme on 4-5 Market Street in line with an officer’s recommendation in a report. The application site is a two-storey terraced property which suffered substantial fire damage in 2019.According to the officer’s report, the building is currently in a “state of some dereliction”. The ground floor of the property previously was occupied by ‘Premier’ commercial store.Full planning consent has now been secured to convert the building into six apartments and two commercial units. On the ground floor, two one-bedroom flats are proposed, while on the first and second floor, there would be two two-bedded flats and two one-bed flats. The commercial units would be provided to the ground floor and would be accessed from and would face Market Street
