Approval has been secured for the development of new retirement apartments in Coventry.Life Path Trust sought outline planning permission from Coventry City Council to build 32, two-bed apartments at 509-511 Walsgrave Road.The site is currently in use as offices and warehousing in connection with Life Path Trust, which is a charitable organisation. It is located to the rear of houses which front Walsgrave Road and Dane Road, with allotments to the north and a public park to the east.Block one will be located to the west of the site, block two will be centrally located, with block three in the north eastern section of the site, overlooking the park.There are 35 car parking spaces proposed, which would be accessed from Walsgrave Road. The flats are aimed at persons over the age of 55.The apartments have been designed for ambulant disabled people to be able to move up and down in a building using the same entrances, corridors and rooms as everyone else without detours.The scheme has now been approved, subject to conditions.
