Approval lined up for Gwynedd affordable homes
Plans for an affordable housing scheme in Gwynedd look set to be backed.The application concerns land opposite the Cremlyn Estate in the village of Bethel near Caernarfon.Lined up for the 3.6-acre site is a mix of bungalows, houses and flats ranging from one, two, three and four bedrooms.There would be a new access to the B4366, creating an internal access road, landscaped areas and associated drainage works.A planning report drawn up ahead of Gwynedd Council’s planning committee meeting on 11 December noted that the proposal is for an affordable housing development that has been designed to meet the needs of the local housing market. It said that it is located on a site that has been designated for housing within the development boundary of the village.”As a result, it is believed that the plan is acceptable on the grounds of principle and that it complies with relevant local and national planning policies regarding all the relevant material planning matters, it added.The report recommends to delegate powers to the head of environment department to approve the application, subject to ensuring an acceptable solution regarding archaeological matters and a 106 agreement for a play area and educational contribution and relevant conditions.
