Approval lined up for housing on Boots campus
Detailed plans forming part of the residential quarter of the wider project to redevelop the Alliance Boots campus in Nottingham have been recommended for approval ahead of a planning committee meeting next week.Ilke Homes is seeking reserved matters approval to build 207 properties at Thane Road.Extending to approximately 43.4 acres, the site is located in the south/southwest area of the campus and borders the Beeston Canal to the south.Boots selected Ilke Homes to create one of the UK’s largest low-rise modular housing schemes last year.The detailed proposals comprise 96 two- to four-bed houses and 111 one- and two-bed apartments A corresponding reserved matters application has been submitted to Broxtowe Borough Council for the 397 dwellings within their administrative area.In total, 604 dwellings are proposed across the entire site.The development will be part of the wider 286-acre Nottingham Enterprise Zone in the Beeston area of Nottingham.A statement from the applicant said: “The vision for the Residential Quarter is to be a new green and distinctive place to live by the edge of Beeston canal.The health and wellbeing legacy from Boots will be reinterpreted to deliver healthy lifestyle opportunities, and the local heritage will be referenced to create identities, character and cohesion.”Nottingham City Council’s planning committee will review the plans on 23 November.A report for the committee said: “It is considered that the proposals for access, scale and layout are well considered and would result in an attractive environment for future occupants with its own distinct character.”
