Approval secured for major County Antrim housing project

Approval has been secured for a major housing development in Mallusk, County Antrim.Developed by Park Road Developments, the plans involve the construction of 162 new homes, as well as associated garages, car parking, open space and landscaping. The project is made up of a mixture of detached and semi-detached units.Two new access points are proposed directly from Park Road to accommodate the scheme, with the most northern access point servicing 33 dwellings, while the southern access point will serve the remaining 129.The application was made following the refusal by Antrim and Newtownabbey planning committee on 19 March 2019 for 181 dwellings.Representing an investment of £45m from the private sector, the development is expected to create 60-80 construction jobs.Measuring 28.5 acres, the application site comprises of agricultural fields, intersected by belts of mature trees and hedgerows. The Ballymartin River runs through the site from the south, converging near the northern boundary with Black Water River course.The plans have now received the seal of approval, subject to conditions.
