Ardoch development plans given outline permission
Plans to build five substantial detached houses in a hamlet near Cardross have received outline planning approval. An application for ‘planning permission in principle’ to develop The Paddock in Ardoch, between Cardross and Dumbarton, was approved by Argyll and Bute Council’s planning, protective services and licensing committee on Wednesday. But any detailed plans for a housing development on the site will have to be brought back before the same committee in a fresh application. But permission was granted at Wednesday’s hearing after the committee was told the site, formerly part of the green belt, was now zoned for housing in the area’s development plan – leaving no statutory grounds for refusing the application. The objectors’ concerns concentrated on road safety, the site’s drainage capacity and the potential impact on wildlife in an area which is close to a site of special scientific interest.
