Plans for a development of 18 apartments in Ascot look set to move forward after the application was recommended for approval.Searchfield Homes is seeking permission for the development on a site off Queens Hill. Two new buildings are envisaged following demolition of the existing single detached dwelling house. The proposal follows a previous similar application for the redevelopment of the site for three blocks of apartments which was was refused for reasons including the impact on character, trees, neighbours, highway safety, ecology, a lack of affordable housing and drainage.According to a report to be scrutinised by Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead councillors today (4 September 2019), the application has been revised significantly to overcome the harm to the character of the area, neighbouring occupants and trees.Subject to a number of outstanding matters being resolved, the council is said to be satisfied that the proposal has overcome all previous concerns.
