Avant Homes gets the go-ahead for £41.9m development
Housebuilder Avant Homes has secured approval for a £41.9m development in South Yorkshire.The Smithy Wood Gate development on Calver Lane in Dodworth, near Barnsley, will comprise a mix of one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom homes. It will feature 13 of Avant Homes’ house types.Of the 179 homes, 40 are designated affordable housing.Planning permission was granted at a meeting of Barnsley Council’s planning regulatory board earlier this week (18 June 2024).Work at Smithy Wood Gate is expected to start on site in August, with the first residents expected to move into their new homes in March 2025.Richard Hosie, Avant Homes West Yorkshire managing director, said: “We are committed to building quality new homes for everyone in popular residential locations.
