Balfour bags £37m Skye and Aviemore hospital projects
Balfour Beatty has signed off a £37m deal to deliver two community hospital facilities at Skye and Aviemore hospitals in Scotland.The contract will see Balfour Beatty construct a 24-bed facility to provide in-patient and X-ray services for the Skye, Lochalsh and South West Ross Community Hospital.It will also build a similar size urgent care facility, GP practice, in-patient and Scottish Ambulance Service facility in Aviemore for the Badenoch & Strathspey Community Hospital.Balfour Beatty agreed the final price with hub North Scotland after an 18-month preconstruction phase ensuring the provision of the most cost-effective and high-quality design solution.In line with Balfour Beatty’s commitment to reduce onsite activity by 25% by 2025, the facilities energy centres will be constructed offsite to improve safety and efficiency on site.Balfour Beatty Ground Engineering will deliver the project’s ground engineering requirements including concrete driven piles.At construction peak, Balfour Beatty will employ a workforce of 200 including the recruitment of two trainee construction managers.Works are due to commence shortly with completion expected in Spring 2021.
