Baltic Triangle hotel and apartments set for green light
The transformation of the Baltic Triangle area of Liverpool looks set to continue with plans for a £70m luxury hotel and almost 200 apartments on the verge of securing the green light.Liverpool City Council’s planning committee is due to rule on a pair of eye-catching planning applications at its next meeting on Tuesday, 13 June 2017.The first is a full planning application by Elliot Group to create a 15-storey mixed-use development comprising a 306-bed hotel with an associated gym, a spa, a restaurant, conference facilities, an entrepreneurial hub and a sky lounge, as well as 50 apartments. The Norfolk Street site already benefits from planning consent granted in April 2016 for a 15-storey scheme featuring 253 apartments but, earlier this year, the developer unveiled plans to change the proposed use and instead create a £70m luxury hotel.Following discussions with hotelier Paul Adams, who is behind the Vincent brand, it is envisaged that the site could become the Vincent Residence & Hotel. The second is a full planning application by AC Parl St 2 to construct a part-seven-storey and part-11-storey apartment complex on Parliament Street. There would be 72 one-bed and 73 two-bed apartments in total.A commercial unit is also planned for the ground floor of the scheme.Ahead of the meeting, both applications have been recommended for approval by planning officers.
