BAM lands £25m Sikh school
BAM has been appointed to design and build the £25m Nishkam School in West London.BAM Design has provided the concept architecture mechanical, structural, and fittings expertise. BAM Construction will carry out the building works.The contract was secured competitively through the Education Funding Agency EFA national contractors framework.Nishkam schools are Sikh-ethos, multi-faith schools for boys and girls aged 4-19. Building works in West London will provide places for 1400 pupils and be set over two and three storeys with four wings radiating from a central hub. The works include a four-court sports hall, two dining halls, a main assembly hall, and a central faith area with an ETFE dome. Outside will be a multi-use games area and grass pitches.An extensive solar array on the roof will allow it to meet the sustainability requirements of the London Plan. There will be electric charging points in the car park, and the football field will be used for storm attenuation.
