Bargate Homes acquires 52 home Eastleigh site
Hampshire-based Bargate Homes and parent company VIVID Homes have acquired a 10.2-acre residential development site in Eastleigh.Working with the team of vendor Cranbury Estate to obtain an outline planning permission, the housebuilder is now preparing to submit a reserved matters planning application, proposing 52 new homes and public open space.Located off Allbrook Way, the site is in a predominantly rural area – previously used for agricultural purposes – with adjoining woodland. The new development will seek to enhance the local area and create much-needed family homes, with 35 per cent being allocated for affordable housing. The new homes will be constructed to an Energy Performance Certificate rating of a B+, in line with Bargate Homes’ environmental social and governance strategy and sustainability commitment.Steve Birch, land and planning director at Bargate Homes, said: “Acquiring this prime site within Eastleigh will enable us to deliver an exemplary development within an area where there is a significant shortage of energy-efficient family homes. We will also be opening up the site to the wider community with new public open spaces delivering demonstrable biodiversity net gains.”We are delighted with this excellent addition to our development portfolio and would like to thank our consultancy teams, as well as those at Cranbury Estates and officers at Eastleigh Borough Planning Department, for their assistance to date.”Bargate Homes will be proposing varying home designs across the site reflective of the character of the surrounding area. TParking will be allocated for each new home on-plot, within parking bays or garages. Bargate Homes is also seeking to create a new pedestrian/cycle network as well as extending existing routes within the site, enhancing the local transport infrastructure.
