Beeston mixed-use scheme gets green light

Plans have been approved for a convenience store and 47 new homes close to Beeston town centre, paving the way for a new Central England Co-operative store.Developers have revealed that the Central England Co-op is to be the tenant for the new convenience store at the site fronting onto High Road where it meets Chilwell Road.A joint project by Peveril Homes and Charterpoint Developments, the mixed-use scheme will feature 32 houses and 15 apartments, along with a Central England Co-op Food Store on part of the former Myford works site.The conditional planning approval from Broxtowe Borough Council relates to around three acres of land on the four-and-a-half-acre site, and as well as the homes and convenience store, it also includes approval for car parking and highways infrastructure.Demolition work has been completed on the site and work on the convenience store, apartments and homes is expected to get under way later this year.The whole site has previously been given outline planning permission for a mixed-use scheme including housing, retail, senior living, healthcare facilities and business uses.
