Developer Aster Group has acquired the first tranche of affordable homes that will be built by three different developers at a new housing scheme in Boorley Green, Eastleigh. It follows the formation of a joint venture between Aster and Linden Homes earlier this year called Boorley Green Land, which will build one third – or 448 units – at the 1,400-home development, 308 of which are being sold on the open market. The remaining homes are being built by Bloor and Bovis.Beyond its role as a developer on the site, Aster also successfully bid to acquire the section 106 provision for the first phase of building across the entire development.Out of these 140 homes, there will be 51 available for shared ownership and 89 available for affordable or social rent. The announcement was made at a tour of the scheme with councillors from Eastleigh Borough Council. Councillors Keith House, leader of the council, Anne Winstanley, deputy leader and cabinet member for housing, and Rupert Kyrle, ward councillor and cabinet member for environment, praised the Boorley Green scheme, which is due to be completed in March 2018.Aster Group’s joint venture with Linden Homes is part of its long-term development plans. It will invest £1.5bn over the next seven years in a building programme across the south of England.
