A bid for a major extension of a shopping and leisure destination in Lincolnshire, which would create about 350 new jobs, has received a boost.Springfields Outlet is seeking permission from South Holland District Council to create about 15 new stores as well as three café/restaurant units. The move, revealed in February, came after the outlet’s owner, Triton Property Fund, managed by UBS Asset Management, conducted a consultation last year. The plans also include 236 additional parking spaces.South Kesteven District Council was consulted about the plan and has raised no objections to it going forward. The improvements to Springfields Outlet are proposed on Camelgate, on the site of the NFU Mutual building and the car park next to Travelodge. The NFU Mutual already has planning permission for new offices to be built on a new site next to Springfields. If approved, the expansion will take the total number of people employed at the centre to about 1,000.A decision is expected to be made by the council in the summer.
