Bristol mixed-use scheme set to move forward

Plans for a new development in Bristol featuring homes, a health centre, library and office space are set to move forward after being recommended for approval.The application, which is part of a wider community-led regeneration scheme, relates to the green space known as Glencoyne Square. Nash Partnership is seeking approval to redevelop the location on behalf of Southmead Development Trust.Permission is sought to erect three to five storey buildings to accommodate 120 residential units, which will primarily be affordable housing, alongside a health centre and library and ancillary office space.New open space is also proposed as well as car parking within the courtyard behind each resident block and around the square.Ahead of a planning committee meeting next week, a report by council officers has found that overriding benefits of the scheme, including “much needed housing and improved community facilities along with the potential to regenerate the area”, outweigh the impact of the loss of open space allocation.The application is recommended for approval subject to completion of a legal agreement and relevant conditions.
