Bristol Temple Island plans due for submission as new images revealed
Plans for the Bristol Temple Island regeneration project are due to be submitted later this year, with new images revealing how the scheme could look.Legal & General has issued updated and more detailed artist’s impression images of the scheme in the Temple Quarter regeneration area.Temple Island is set to become a vibrant new urban district with centrally located homes, high-quality workplaces and employment opportunities for the local knowledge economy. Two stages of community engagement took place in 2023, with feedback suggesting people want to see exemplary design.Zaha Hadid Architects are engaged to create the buildings and are working with landscape architects at LDA Design who are developing the new public spaces.Images of the scheme have been released ahead of a series of community showcase events happening this week.Ben Rodgers, head of regeneration for Legal & General Investment Management, said: “We’re now hoping that more people will engage with our next round of showcase events as well as online before we submit a planning application for a vibrant new district, offering major employment opportunities and much-needed homes, later this year.”As part of its proposals, Legal & General aims to bring forward around 500 new homes with up to 40 per cent being affordable. Also proposed is two new office buildings, retail space, a commercial building offering flexible workspace opportunities and a hotel and conference centre. The project is expected to create up to 2,000 jobs.It is situated on a derelict, previously developed brownfield site, with one of the guiding principles for the development being the delivery of a sustainable district. Legal & General is seeking to enable low carbon lifestyles by minimising car use and creating new pedestrian and cycle routes alongside enhancing ecological habitats.
