Bruntwood submits Albert Square plans
Bruntwood has submitted plans to transform a 66,249 sq ft building overlooking Albert Square and Manchester Town Hall. The developer, working with Bridge Architects, has lodged a new design proposal for Commercial Union House. Bruntwood renamed the building Union after acquiring it in late 2015.The property comprises a basement level, three self-contained ground-floor retail units, and five upper floors of approximately 10,000 sq ft each.According to Bruntwood, the introduction of a new curved, six-storey façade and panoramic windows would give it unrivalled views over Albert Square and the surrounding streets. The central lift core is also earmarked for reconfiguring to provide a larger ground-floor reception area and an improved arrival experience on every floor. And internally, the workspaces would be refurbished to benefit from lots of natural light and a modern industrial finish.
