Building starts on major city centre flats development
Building work is underway at an 11-storey development in Stoke-on-Trent city centre, which will provide more than 150 flats.The development will comprise one and two-bed build to rent apartments. It is being constructed at Smithfield by Genr8 Developments in partnership with Stoke-on-Trent City Council’s housing company Fortior Homes, which will own the building.The scheme is set for completion in late 2019, with the first residents moving in the following year.The residential block will have amenity space and communal gardens. There are also leisure and commercial units planned for the ground floor.Planning application was approved by the city council in December 2017.A second building of 126 apartments has also been given planning permission and will form part of a future phase of development.
