Care home nears approval for former social club site
A care home could be built on a site previously occupied by a social club in Telford if plans are approved at committee next week.Exemplar Healthcare is seeking the go-ahead to develop land at Woodside Avenue.The site was formerly occupied by Woodside Social Club, which has been demolished.Proposals comprise a 33-unit facility providing specialist nursing care for adults with complex needs.Telford and Wrekin Council will consider the application on 16 November.A report for the committee said: “The scale of the proposals are considered acceptable in that they meet an identified need for the proposed function as a specialist care home whilst respecting and responding positively to its context and enhancing the quality of the local built and natural environment.”
