Carmarthenshire housing scheme recommended for approval

Plans for the development of more than 200 homes at a site to the north west of Llanelli town centre have been recommended for approval.Acting on behalf of Carmarthenshire County Council, Asbri Planning is seeking outline approval to develop land known as Cwm Y Nant which is located within the village of Dafen.The site, which is allocated for residential use, comprises an irregular shaped parcel of greenfield land of approximately 25 acres.Situated to the east of the A4138, the surrounding area comprises a mix of land uses with Dafen Trade Park directly to the east and a former works tp the north.A residential development of up to 202 units, including a mix of three house types, alongside associated landscaping and infrastructure works is envisaged.Despite some opposition, a report to be scrutinised by Carmarthenshire County Council’s planning committee concludes on balance that an acceptable form of residential development can be delivered at the site, “subject to specific details being reviewed and approved at reserved matters stage”.
