Cavanna Homes secures approval for Paignton homes
Cavanna Homes’ plans for 100 energy-efficient properties on the edge of Collaton St Mary village, near Paignton, have been backed.The land, on the north of Totnes Road, will be fully repurposed, with more than half of the site to be retained as open green space.The properties will be a mix of detached, semi-detached and terraced houses, all of which will be fitted with insulation and heating systems.It is anticipated that building work will begin in the autumn of 2023.Cavanna Homes development manager Karen Croker said: “Securing planning consent on this site in Collaton St Mary, close to our head office, is fantastic.”We are pleased to have allocated 30 per cent of the homes as affordable housing for local people to help tackle the housing crisis in Torbay.”Funds released from the development in the form of S106 payments will support the Collaton St Mary flood alleviation works, benefit local schools and improve public transport.Michael Newman, director of land and design at Cavanna Homes, added: “As a Torbay company, which has been building homes for local people for 100 years, we are focused on delivering the very best we can for the communities in which we live and work.”
