Clancy Docwra bags £250m water contract
Clancy Docwra has secured the £250m renewal of a network-maintenance contract with South East Water.The family owned contractor, which has held the contract with the utility company for the past eight years, will deliver all repairs, maintenance and planned mains renewals as part of the £50m-per-year deal.Running for the next five years, the contract, which includes an option for a three-year extension, covers infrastructure in parts of Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire. South East Water said the deal placed an even greater emphasis on collaboration and innovation.South East Water managing director Paul Butler added that the partnership was set “to be one of the most integrated yet, with a renewed emphasis on supporting responsible business objectives throughout the coming five-year cycle, focusing on driving innovation, network resilience, customer experience and greater affordability for our 2.2 million customers”.In December, Clancy Docwra’s annual results revealed the company had broken through the £300m-turnover barrier and moved back into profit. The utilities contractor grew revenue by £42m to £305.7m for the year ending 31 March 2019. It made a pre-tax profit of £1m, up from the £3.6m loss posted in its last set of accounts, giving it a 0.34 per cent margin.Clancy did not publish details of the size of the contract, but South East Water stated the value in its interim report for the six months ending 30 September 2019.
