Consent for Hungate built-to-rent apartments

Planning consent has been granted for almost 200 build-to-rent apartments at the Hungate development in York. Lendlease and Evans Property Group were granted consent at York City Council’s planning committee meeting earlier this week (14 February 2017).The reserved matters application sought approval to construct a building featuring 196 apartments, with a mix of studios, one- and two-bedroom properties.The building will also include a communal lounge, 24-hour concierge, gym, landscaped courtyard, and a rooftop terrace with Minster views. A cycle space will be provided for every home and commercial space will be created at ground level.The eight-storey building has been designed by build-to-rent architects’ firm Assael Architecture of London, with landscaping designed by Neil Tully Associates. Construction will start later this year, with completion expected in 2020.Phases one and two of the development, completed in 2009 and 2017, respectively.
