Plans to transform GAC grounds in L’Derry into new affordable housing are set to undergo an extensive public review. The proposal aims to deliver 100 new social and affordable homes, alongside extension and refurbishment of the existing club house facilities and provision of a new multi-use community building centre at the current Sean Dolan GAC grounds. The £16 million scheme in the Creggan area of the city is being led by Radius Housing. A statutory three-month public consultation will take place on the current proposals, with a public information event scheduled for Tuesday 25 June at the Sean Dolan GAC clubhouse. Following consideration of the consultation responses, Radius intends to submit a full planning application to Derry City and Strabane District Council in September 2019. Radius has already undertaken discussions with Sean Dolan’s GAC, Derry GAA, Ulster Council, Derry City and Strabane District Council, political representatives and wider community organisations from the Creggan area.
