Consultation opens on 3,000-home scheme
Plans have been revealed to build 3,000 new homes in Newcastle at a time when demand for housing in the city has “never been greater”.Newcastle City Council has published its draft masterplan for the Lower, Middle and Upper Callerton Neighbourhood Growth Area as part of a venture with a consortium of local developers.The proposals take into consideration Callerton’s history and landscape, show how the development will give long-term benefits to the local community and the local natural environment, and how it fits with schools, transport, shops, open space and leisure facilities.Locals have been invited to a series of consultation events to view the scheme.
