Contractor named for £1.5m sixth form extension
A contractor has been handed a £1.5m contract to bring forward a three-storey extension at Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form College. Novus Property Solutions will create a 7,524 sq ft space which will include new teaching facilities and workshops, as well as a large performance room and IT laboratories.It will provide extra teaching capacity and more flexibility, allowing for a greater intake of students. Work will be carried out during term time with measures in place to avoid disruption. Completion is set for August 2020 in time for the new academic year.The project marks the second education sector win for the contractor in Stoke in the last year, after it was appointed to deliver a £1m extension at Excel Academy in April. The work is being delivered in collaboration with architect Wood Goldstraw Yorath and project manager Thornton Firkin.
