Controversial village housing scheme to be built

Controversial plans to build 85 homes in a Nottinghamshire village have been given the go-ahead.Terra Strategic has been given permission to build the homes in Cropwell Bishop on a site used currently used for farming and next to a primary school, after a two-year battle against the scheme from local, who complained that the number of new homes in the village was “excessive”.The houses will be made up of a mixture of 24 four-bedroom, 32 three-bedroom, 21 two-bedroom and eight 1-bedroom homes.The scheme will go ahead despite several objections from locals who expressed dismay that Cropwell Bishop would suffer from congestion, pollution and a lack of service provision.The developers will pay almost £120,000 towards sustainable transport, including a contribution over £90,000 to fund improvements to local bus transport in and out of Nottingham city centre.
