Corporation backs Alkerden Heights development

Bellway’s work on its Alkerden Heights development in Ebbsfleet has been praised.The Ebbsfleet Development Corporation team has visited the site, with the group given a tour by Jessica Reynolds, sales adviser from Bellway Kent, to see first-hand the progress made over the past 12 months.Bellway Kent is building 182 homes at Alkerden Heights, off Castle Hill Road. Construction started on site in 2022, with the first properties being completed and handed over to their new owners in July this year. The four-bedroom Bowyer showhome opened in August.Alkerden Heights forms part of the wider regeneration at Ebbsfleet Garden City, which is taking shape over 2,500 acres of previously used brownfield land on the Kent Thames riverside.The scheme plans to bring forward up to 15,000 homes alongside community facilities, infrastructure and ample space for nature.Ian Piper, chief executive of Ebbsfleet Development Corporation, said: “We are grateful to Bellway for showing the Ebbsfleet Development Corporation team around the Alkerden Heights show home and sales complex.”Visits to developers are incredibly valuable for our team to see the properties built across Ebbsfleet and the context of their construction within the growing community.”This has been a fantastic opportunity to see Bellway’s work in action, learn about the variety of types and tenures on offer, and their commitment to delivering high-quality, well-designed homes.”Mark Harrop, sales director for Bellway Kent, added: “The visit by the Ebbsfleet Development Corporation gave us a chance to show how we are regenerating this brownfield land to create a vibrant new community.”The new homes have been carefully designed to reflect the rural heritage of the area as well as its location within the garden city.”We are building a mix of housing to meet the needs of the local community, including one and two-bedroom apartments and two, three and four-bedroom houses, as well as providing a neighbourhood green.”
