Council approves £67m funding fro more affordable homes in Glasgow
Glasgow City Council’s Executive Committee today (31 August) approved the next stage of its Affordable Housing Supply Programme (AHSP), with almost £67million to be allocated towards the development of affordable housing in the city in the current financial year (2017/18). This funding will support the building of 882 new affordable homes by housing associations and private developers in Glasgow during the current financial year, as well as a further 402 affordable homes being made available after improvement works. In addition, a target for site start on 1556 new affordable homes has been set for 2017/18.As part of the programme, £2.5million will be made available for medical adaptations to these affordable homes being built or improved in the city.The council manages the funding – allocated to registered social landlords and private developers – from the Scottish Government for affordable housing in Glasgow. This investment helps the council meet the priorities set in its housing strategy for the city between 2017-22.
