Council selects AJC Group for New Forest housing scheme
Dorset-based AJC Group has won the contract to deliver an “affordable” housing development of 22 homes in Hythe, on behalf of the New Forest District Council (NFDC).The completed development will include a mix of homes, ranging from one- and two-bedroom apartments, to two-, three-, and four-bedroom family houses. New public open space will also be created as well as a play area. New planting of native species and planting for pollinators will be carried out, to enhance and benefit the local wildlife.Located south of Beaulieu Road, the new development is less than one mile from Hythe town centre, and will provide much needed affordable homes for this part of The New Forest. The site originally accommodated the old NHS Hythe & Dibden War Memorial Hospital, with a new state of the art hospital being built in 2022 on the adjoining site.David Cracklen, director of AJC Group, said: “We are delighted to have won the contract to deliver this important affordable housing site in Hythe. This development will go some way to meeting the local housing needs of the community, and will create affordable housing in a sustainable and accessible location.“Historically, The New Forest has not benefited from enough affordable housing, especially for families and first time buyers, and it is encouraging to see the NFDC council adopt such a forward thinking vision. As part of our commitment of building 500 affordable homes in the next five years, we are proud to be providing an opportunity to own a home in this beautiful area of Hampshire.”Read next: Wilson and Collins join Housemark in senior rolesAre you a social housing professional?
