County Durham housing scheme set to move forward
Outline plans for a 100-home residential scheme near Barnard Castle are set to get the go-ahead.Banks Property has earmarked a 13.8-acre parcel of agricultural land on the eastern edge of Barnard Castle, between the A67 Darlington Road to the south and the A688 Bishop Auckland Road further to the north.The proposals seek permission for 100 dwellings, with all matters reserved apart from access.There would be a mix of properties with two, three, four and five bedrooms.The plans have been recommended for approval ahead of a Durham council committee meeting next week (2 March 2021).Approval is subject to a number of conditions, including the completion of a section 106 agreement to secure contributions towards the likes of recreational facilities and affordable housing.
