Deal struck to redevelop disused care home
A disused care home in Southampton is set to be redeveloped into a new care facility for autistic children and young adults following a deal brokered on behalf of Autism Hampshire.The charity owned 39-41 Belmont Road in Portswood for more than 30 years. However, following its decision that the communal accommodation offered there was no longer fit for purpose, it decided to dispose of the building.The property was sold to St Andrews Holdings Ltd by commercial property specialist Vail Williams for an undisclosed sum.The new building will be designed by architecture practice Denvo Design, providing assisted living and care facilities with 19 one-bedroom flats and associated communal and staff facilities.
