A residential development could be created on a site previously occupied by a nightclub in Birmingham if plans are approved at committee next week.Bordeaux Estates is seeking outline approval to develop vacant land on Lower Parade, Sutton Coldfield. The site was formerly occupied by Rosie’s nightclub, which has been demolished.Proposals comprise a building of between six and eight storeys containing 55 homes, along with approximately 7,800 sq ft of commercial space at ground floor level.Vehicular access for residents and for service vehicles is provided via an existing service road off Lower Parade.A statement submitted to Birmingham City Council on behalf of the applicant said: “The proposed development not only complies with but delivers both national and local planning policy in a positive and appropriate manner.”No technical issues arise which cannot be dealt with through appropriate conditions on any planning permission.”The council’s planning committee will consider the application on 22 December.A report for the committee said: “The application seeks to deliver a mixed-use commercial/residential development in a highly sustainable town centre location, delivering a net gain of housing units, including on-site affordable housing.”
