Decision due on housing plans for former school site
Detailed plans for the construction of more than 100 homes on the site of a former school in Nottinghamshire could soon move forward.Avant Homes Central is seeking reserved matters approval to build 104 properties on land at Lynncroft Primary School, Eastwood. The school buildings, which were located to the east of the site and accessed off Lynncroft, have been demolished. The school had two large areas used as playing fields/sports pitches.Proposals comprise a mix of one- to five-bed units, ten of which would be allocated as affordable housing. The application was first brought before Broxtowe Borough Council’s planning committee on 5 July but was deferred so members could seek amended plans in relation to the impact upon the residential amenity of the adjoining neighbours, clarification of affordable housing provision on the site and private driveways. It will now be considered on 6 September.A report for the committee said: “The development would be in accordance with the policies contained within the development plan. This is given significant weight.”
