Decision due on Leicestershire housing plans
Revised detailed plans for the development of 80 homes in Leicestershire as part of a wider mixed-use project will go before planners next week.Cadeby Homes is seeking reserved matters approval to develop land adjacent to Grange Road in Hugglescote, Coalville. The site forms part of the South East Coalville Urban Extension, for which Harworth Group is master developer.Outline permission exists for up to 2,700 residential properties and a range of commercial facilities. The current application is similar to a reserved matters scheme that was refused in September 2023.The principal changes from the previously refused scheme include the provision of a signal controlled (puffin) pedestrian crossing to Grange Road (in lieu of a previously proposed vehicle activated speed sign), and additional pedestrian connections within the application site.Proposals will now be reviewed by North West Leicestershire District Council’s planning committee on 5 March.A report for the committee said: “The reserved matters scheme the subject of this application is considered to be acceptable, and previously raised highway safety concerns as set out in the previous application’s reason for refusal are considered to have been addressed to an acceptable degree.”
