Decision due on Newcastle trampoline park
Plans for a North East leisure company to transform a vacant property on a Newcastle industrial estate into a job-creating trampoline park look set to be approved.Funshack launched its Jump 360 venture in Stockton in 2015 having previously opened a large-scale children’s play centre at Portrack Interchange Park.As part of its expansion plans, the business submitted an application in December last year to transform three adjoining units at Benfield Business Park in Newcastle into a combination of its two flagship schemes on Teesside – representing an investment of £2.5m.The 69,000 sq ft development would comprise a Jump 360 trampoline park and Indoor Adventure Playgound. The former would take up 58 per cent of the floor space, while the play centre would cover 37 per cent. Funshack has proposed the remaining 5 per cent be occupied by dodgems. The Jump 360 element of the scheme would be made up primarily of interconnected trampoline zones and include foam pits, a central jump zone for adults and older children, a smaller toddler zone, a dodgeball and basketball hoop trampoline area and battle beams. The play centre would comprise tube tunnels, giant snake slides, net climbs and swings, giant river rapid slides and a spook area. A range of other activities would also be provided including laser tag, go karts and dodgems.About 80 jobs would be created across the entire development.A recommendation of approval has been made.Since the application was submitted, Funshack has revealed plans for a separate Newcastle venture at Benton Business Park.
