Decision due on Winscombe development
Plans for a 68-home development in Winscombe will go before committee later this week.Woodstock Homes (Winscombe) is behind the application, which concerns land adjoining Coombe Farm on Sandford Road.Full approval is sought for the demolition of existing buildings and the construction of 68 homes across a mix of one, two, three and four bedrooms.A total of 30 per cent would be affordable.A report drawn up ahead of North Somerset Council’s planning committee meeting on 15 November said: “The delivery of 68 new homes would give rise to some economic benefits as a result of the jobs created during the construction phase and the spending power of new residents within the local economy.”These benefits would arise from any similar-sized housing development and therefore are given limited weight.”Accordingly, it is concluded that the proposal complies with the relevant development plan policies and therefore the application should be approved.”
