Delay for refreshed bid for Rolls-Royce homes
A final decision on resubmitted plans to build more than 100 homes on a Rolls-Royce site in Nottinghamshire has been delayed.Persimmon Homes and Muse Developments are behind the new proposals for 120 homes on land at Rolls-Royce, Watnall Road in Hucknall.Ashfield District Council’s planning committee was set to make a final decision on the plans for the 8.6-acre site at a meeting on Thursday 28 March. However, the vote was put back to allow more time for discussions with the applicants over the proposed retail space.A previous application was refused on the basis it provided residential accommodation in an area which had been earmarked for a local centre on the original masterplan. The authority said that without such facilities, the proposal was considered to “undermine” future levels of amenity offered to residents and would be “out of keeping” with the masterplan. The wider development has provided significant economic and social benefits and value for the community, and will continue to do so through the provision of housing, retail units, a primary school, care home and Section 106 contributions.
