Delayed £10m bypass to drive forward
Work to build a long-awaited £10m bypass in Derbyshire is set to start after a latest planning approval was granted.Derbyshire County Council has confirmed that work on the link road ? known as the Woodville-Swadlincote Regeneration Route ? could start late next year.This follows the news that South Derbyshire District Council has now granted planning consent for the bypass and three new roundabouts.The new route will connect the A511 from Occupation Lane, Woodville, through the ‘Tollgate Park’ regeneration site, to the A514, Derby Road, Swadlincote. It is part of wider plans to create new housing and employment opportunities in the south of the county.The bypass is being funded from a share of £250m government cash granted to the Derby and Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Local Enterprise Partnership.
