Demolition and redevelopment of historic building proposed

New plans have been submitted for the demolition and redevelopment of landmark building in Hull.The Lord Line Building was constructed in 1949 for The Lord Line trawler fleet and is the largest surviving fish dock building at St Andrews Dock.The building is locally listed due to its status as a landmark building and importance to the Hull fishing industry. However has been vacant for a number of years and has suffered from vandalism.Planning permission was previously granted at the end of 2018 for the change of use of the ground floor to restaurant, café and ice cream parlour use, together with the refurbishment of the upper floors to return them to use as office.However, the new application states, that following further detailed structural surveys, it has been determined that the works required to the building to make it structurally secure would be more extensive than anticipated and “the implementation any change of use and refurbishment would be wholly unviable”.Planning permission is now sought for demolition of the building and redevelopment of the site.The new four-storey building would comprise 40 residential units, with a ground floor commercial unit and undercroft car parking.ELG Planning and Fresh Design International have worked on the application.
